PHOTOSHOP LUCHA LIBRE: A walk on the wild side

With Derrick Maddox (AKA hotmonkey)
The world of abstraction (Embracing the experimental composition)
Blend modes, Selections, Layer masks, and Zen.

Walk on the wild side is an intuitive stream of consciousness technique of creating images, a meditative process, where there are no rules, no expectations or deadlines. This haphazard, “no holds bar” approach to creating images will not only prove to be an invaluable tool as a sketchbook for new projects and Ideas. This method will also help ease the fears of learning Photoshop by introducing concepts through wonder and personal exploration. Always remembering the mantra, “there are no mistakes, only tacos”. To all you people who use guides when creating image compositions, park your logic at the front desk and let Photoshop open the door way to your intuitive self. When you walk on the wild side, you find that for every picture there are a million compositions, and out of a million compositions there has got to be one masterpiece, even if you have to have a couple of beers before looking at it again.

The Fantastic New Tools in Photoshop CS5

Lee Varis will examine some of the recent Photoshop CS5 tools including:

• Content Aware Fill
• Mask Panel and Refine Edges
• HDR Toning

Instead of just demonstrating these features, Lee will reveal some practical techniques for the application of these new tools and how to really take advantage of them to solve specific problems. He will devote extra time to the use of the improved masking functions to achieve seamless composites while preserving fine detail in hair wisps!

Food and drinks starting at 6pm
